The bright orange-red berries of the Seabuckthorn bush have been used as food and medicine in Eastern Europe and the Orient for thousands of years. This amazing plant is found growing from sea level up to 14,000 feet, surviving in the harsh sun exposed conditions of the high altitudes. The healing properties of the plant were praised in ancient Ayurvedic and Tibetan texts. More recently, scientific investigations have led to enhanced knowledge and widescale cultivation in China, Russia and Europe. The fruit is a beneficial cornucopia of over 190 bioactive substances. A top source for vitamin A, C, & E, and rich in B1 & 2, K, carotenoids, phospholipids, EFA’s, sterols, amino acids, flavonoids, microelements, etc. It is one of the few vegetal sources of serotonin (5–HT). A powerful antioxidant and immunomodulator, extensive studies in China and Russia show Seabuckthorn to support liver and cardiovascular health, balance thyroid, stimulate gastric juices and reduce inflammation.
