CHUCHUHUASI Maytenus macrocarpa The bark of this medicinal rainforest tree is also known as Chuchuhuasa (not to be confused with Heisteria pallida, Cheiloclinum cognatum and several others with this common name). One of the foremost herbal medicines in Amazonia, used as a general cleansing immuno-fortifier for thousands of years. Traditional healers have shown how they use the bark for colds, flu, infections, migraine, adrenal support, respiratory problems, rheumatism, menstrual regulation and many common illnesses. It is valued as a pain reliever and muscle relaxant. As a "teacher plant" during dietas it is said to fortify the body and teach one resistance and endurance in every sense. Famous as an aphrodisiac. Italian phytochemical trails clinically proved it is a highly effective antiinflammatory, has very high antitumor activity (especially skin tumors) and is an antioxidant radioprotective agent. Sesquiterpenic and spermidine alkaloids, catechins, cumarins, saponins and triterpenes are present. Chuchuhuasi synergizes well with other herbs; one great aphrodisiacal blend is Chuchuhuasi, Clavohuasca, Iporuru and Cacao. Traditionally soaked in alcohol or infused into a full-bodied deep red tea that is pleasantly energizing. 1 teaspoon per cup of tea, best with a little honey. 1/2 teaspoon powder can also be taken with juice or water.A wonderful Chuchuhuasi bark tea recipe could include: Chuchuhuasi (10 grams) Pau D’Arco (5.0 grams) Cat's Claw (3.5 grams) Goji Berries (20 grams) 1 raw vanilla bean (This makes 2.5 liters of healing tea)
