This opium poppy relative is the premier Chinese herbal sedative and painkiller. Used as an effective muscle relaxant, antispasmodic, circulatory stimulant and cardiotonic. Research has shown it to be highly useful for most pain conditions. Relaxing, promotes sound sleep, excellent for insomnia and anxiety states. Contains a number of interesting bioactive isoquinoline alkaloids. Studies suggest that it can help with opiate habituation, decreasing tolerance and alleviating the physical and psychological challenges of opiate withdrawal. 1-2 teaspoons powder mixed in water, juice, or encapsulated.
