CAMU CAMU BERRIES Myciaria dubia Temporarily out of Stock. Expected late October early November.
These berries, from a bush that grows in swampy and flooded areas of the Amazon, are the highest natural source of vitamin C! Very rich in iron, niacin, phosphorus, potassium, riboflavin, beta carotene, minerals and amino acids including serine, valine, and leucine. The terpenes alpha-pinene and d-limonene are also found in these impressively nutritious fruits. Studies show Camu Camu to have strong antioxidant effects. Utilised in North America to alleviate depression and wean people off pharmaceutical antidepressants. It is also proving a beneficial treatment for herpes. Because of its antioxidant, emollient and slightly astringent properties it’s becoming popular in cosmetic products, especially shampoos and conditioners. It is said to revitalize and strengthen hair. The sour berry powder can be mixed with water or juice, it is even made into an ice cream in Peru! Recommended usage is 1/2 teaspoon 2 to 4 times a day.Enjoy it mixed with fresh lemon juice, water and a little honey. Our Camu Camu is ecologically wildcrafted in the Peruvian Amazon where it is pulped, frozen, then shipped to Lima, macerated and dehydrated. This process preserves the phytonutrient content of the berries producing by far the finest product available, with a vitamin C content of 13–16%!
Please note that most of the Camu Camu available is cut with maltodextrin and is a light colored powder with a sour taste, ours is not cut with anything, is dark in color and has a strong sour-bitter flavor because of the extremely high vitamin C content.
