We are conscious that we are all connected in a complex eecosystem that is in imminent danger of collapse.

Gradually we will put up info and links and ways you can help keep things from going pear shaped. As we get many of our products from Amazon rainforests we are keen to contribute to sustainable rainforests as well as ensuring that the herbs we buy are from sustainable sources.

We found out about a site that enables you to protect your own personal bit of rainforest.

It is well known that human activity, especially the burning of fossil fuels, causes global warming. However, few people realize that deforestation and land-use changes – such as slash-and-burn farming, soil degradation and loss, road building, and urban sprawl – account for as much as 20 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions.

Some 35.1 million acres of tropical forests are destroyed each year, releasing millions of tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere. Not to mention the significant loss of biodiversity and habitat in each converted acre, or the cumulative loss of ecosystem services for local communities, including storm protection, non-timber forest products, ecotourism potential, and water purification.

And another is a charity set up by David Wolfe that plants fruit trees non-commercially. We are contributing to this organisation this year. Avocado's projects are varied and interesting. maybe you would like to help.

Another project that we are looking to do is to convert our transport to run on vegetable oil. The cost of conversion is less generally than conversion to LPG and the price of veggie oil is about 10p a litre recycled and 37-47p a litre from the nearest corner shop.

We found this site that has lots of info about vehicular vegetarianism! It seems to have a secondary benefit of saving lots of buckaroos on fuel cost. The more miles you travel the more you save.

Conservation International (CI) is working with partnersThe idea is that you can either protect a specific identified acre of land or the habitat of an endangered animal species. We are contributing 5% of our surplus to this organisation this year. Take a look at this maybe you want to help as well.
